Dysport™:

What is Dysport?

Dysport is the newest injectable in the U.S. market. It treats deep lines and wrinkles by immobilizing muscles, similar to Botox. Developed in the United Kingdom in the early '90s, Dysport has been used overseas for many years. Dysport was FDA-approved for use in the US on April 30, 2009.

Dysport and Botox are made by different companies, but they have the same basic structure and they work in the same way. There are some slight differences between the two:

1. Dysport "kicks in" a little more quickly than Botox. Botox usually takes effect after 5-7 days, while Dysport's effects are noticeable as early as 1-2 days after treatment.
2. Dysport and Botox "units" are not the same, so you can't expect to use the same number of Dysport units that you are used to using in Botox units. The ratio of Dysport to Botox units is generally 2.5-3: 1 (2.5-3 times more Dysport units per Botox unit).
3. Dysport lasts at least as long as Botox does (3-4 months), but there have been some studies in Europe which show Dysport lasts longer than Botox. We'll just have to see how it plays out here in the US.
4. Dysport can NOT be used on patients with a specific allergy to “cow’s milk protein” and Botox doesn’t have that stipulation

I have personally used Dysport and have found it to be quite comparable to Botox regarding results. The cost of Dysport is favorable, and I think we'll see a large number of our patients taking the Dysport “Love it or Leave it” Challenge – offering significant rebates for patients who try Dysport.

Dermal Fillers:
Restylane®, Perlane® and Juvéderm:
Colorado Medical Spa uses safe and natural cosmetic dermal fillers that restores skins volume and fullness, correcting facial wrinkles and folds.

Restylane®:
Restylane® is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasalabial folds (also called the marionette lines). Restylane® is also used to enhance the appearance and fullness of lips, restoring contour and volume.

Restylane® has a highly favorable safety profile. It is composed of non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid which is a substance found naturally in the human body. Restylane is fully biocompatible. No allergy testing is required before use. Restylane® maintains its shape using the body's own moisture. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane® is hydrophilic or "water loving." As hyaluronic acid gradually degrades, each molecule binds to more water and over time, the same volume can be maintained with less hyaluronic acid. This ability of hyaluronic acid to bind to water is what helps provide long-lasting results.

Restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds.

Restylane® is the first and only dermal filler made of a crystal clear gel called “NASHA” or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyluronic Acid.

Juvéderm Dermal Filler
With time, exposure to the sun and other elements, skin components breakdown. The skin loses structure and volume. Unwelcome lines and wrinkles appear. We can now correct wrinkles and facial folds, reversing the signs of aging.

Laser Pigmented Lesion Treatment:
As people age, sun spots most commonly appear on the backs of the hands, the forearms, neck, chest, and face causing you to look years older than your chronological age. We can eliminate signs of aging, put your mind at ease and take years off of your appearance.

Sun damage and age spots are also known as sun spots, liver spots, lentigos, or lentigines. These lesions are flat, tan, brown, or dark brown spots on sun-exposed skin.

Sun spots are associated with cumulative sun exposure. The pigment producing cells in the skin (called melanocytes) are activated to produce more pigment (melanin) by ultraviolet rays. While these spots are not themselves cancerous, you may be at risk for skin cancer if you have them.
